The BSRG Committee
The BSRG committee has a "rolling"
membership; committee members hold office for 3 years (except the Postgraduate
Rep, who usually changes annually), on a voluntary basis. Ordinary committee
meetings are held twice yearly, at the AGM and in the summer. To maintain a
degree of continuity, the Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer are elected in
successive years. Nominations are solicited prior to the December AGM, where a
vote is held in the Business Meeting if required. Please consider volunteering
for one of these positions; the tasks are relatively light and it is a
fulfilling way of contributing to the vitality of the UK sedimentological
community. Committe meetings are held several times a year plus at the AGM.
Departmental Reps: Volunteers are also requested to act
as local representatives for BSRG within their own institutions and to their
colleagues. Ideally we would like to have one contact person within each
institution. This does not supersede the newsletters, that will continue to be
sent to all BSRG members, but provides an additional channel for publicising
BSRG activities, for example for distributing posters for BSRG meetings and
gathering ideas and suggestions.
How to apply: To
stand for election to the committee, please send a letter with your name,
address and e-mail, countersigned by a proposer and seconder, to the
Chairperson. Positions available; Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity
/ Initiatives Rep, Industry Liaison, Ordinary Committee Member, Postgraduate
Member, Website Administrator, AGM Convenor.
