Research Details: Keywords: Clastic sedimentology,
spectral gamma-ray, sequence stratigraphy, deltaic, fluvial, geochemistry.
Description: General research interests are focussed on
understanding aspects of Earth surface processes and clastic sedimentology
using related disciplines, including well-log analysis, geochemistry,
palaeontology and seismic interpretation. Structural and sedimentological
evolution of syn-rift successions (e.g. Middle Jurassic Tarbert Formation,
North Sea). Architecture of coastal and alluvial deposits in high subsidence
settings (e.g. Carboniferous Joggins Formation, eastern Canada). Spectral gamma
ray characterisation of high resolution sequence stratigraphic surfaces.
Spectral gamma ray and palynological characterisation of marine bands
(especially Upper Carboniferous) in deltaic and deep marine sediments. Using
mudrock chemistry to understand anoxia development during periods of rising
glacioeustatic sea-level. Provenance-control on the chemical character of
ancient sediments. |
